Japanese Integrated Medicine covers five essential aspects of health based on the bigger picture, “Gairon” in Japanese: western anatomy, pathology, ergonomics, nutrition, the mind and emotions, integrated body skills of a natural martial artist, environmental adaptability, and the nature of ourselves and our environment – from both a western scientific perspective and the Oriental philosophical scientific understanding.

Many of our students have been patients of practitioners of Japanese Integrated Medicine, martial arts teachers or film/TV stunt professionals. Some want to learn self-treatment methods and nutrition; others want to become a professional practitioner. For beginners we recommend starting with Part 1.

Anma Practitioner Part 1

Covering the principles and practice of Amatsu Japanese Integrated Medicine, anatomy, physiology, Oriental philosophy and science, basic self-treatment methods, major acu-points, palpation skill development, basic muscle testing and our Shoden head-to-toe Balance.

Year one of professional practitioner training focuses on the muscles and joints of the body, anatomy and physiology, whilst considering how muscle functions are affected by our emotions, nutrition and environment, along with the acupuncture meridians that pass through these areas and strategic acupoints.

Practical studies take place in Stoke Poges, Germany, the Czech Republic or Majorca.

Practical attendance: One Saturday or Sunday per month for 12 months.

Investment: £4,500 if paid in full upfront, or an initial deposit of £800 followed by 12 monthly payments of £350.

Entry is only available to graduates of Part 1 – Anma.

Builds upon the basic Anma skills and includes joint and ligament correction, positional release, muscle energy techniques, foundation visceral (Ampuka), cranial sacral fascia balancing, foundation Amatsu acupressure for the treatment of common physical conditions, remedial exercise, etc.

Common conditions treated include back pain, joint conditions such as tennis elbow, ankle strain, frozen shoulder, sciatica, wry neck, Bell’s palsy, carpal tunnel, housewife’s knee, sports injuries, aches and strains.

Practical attendance: One Saturday or Sunday per month for 12 months.

Okuden – the 3rd step

Students are welcome to stay at the level of Japanese Physical Medicine practitioner, or progress into Japanese Internal Medicine. Okuden is for previous students of Amatsu Japanese Integrated Medicine with clinical experience. You can choose one option and complete the other afterwards, or study both at the same time. Each option has Part 1 (online learning and theory, with home study modules, workbooks and videos) and Part 2 (practical tuition).
